A Bit Beyond Words
A Creative Writing & Fine Art Mashup for Teens | Homeschool Enrichment | Chico
Step into a studio where words and art work hand-in-hand. Led by Ms. Meg (writing) and Ms. Kimmie (fine art), this 15-week workshop invites teens to explore imagination in two languages — the written and the visual — through an alternating rhythm: one week of writing, one week of art, then repeat.

A New Creative Rhythm...
Every writing week, students dive into fiction — crafting short stories or chapters of a novel-in-progress. They’ll learn to shape plot and character, play with description and dialogue, and refine their writer’s voice.
The following art week opens new possibilities: students may interpret scenes or themes from their writing or let new artwork spark fresh story ideas. Sometimes the art grows from the writing; other times, the writing blooms from the art. Each discipline feeds the other, creating a lively, imaginative cycle of expression.
